Speculation is rampant that Gov. Chris Christie will be delivering the keynote speech at the Republican National Convention in Tampa next month. If it proves true, it would be a coup for Christie, who has been honing his oratory skills stumping for Mitt Romney across the country.
The keynote speech is a chance to bask in the national television spotlight. It has been pivotal to the careers of former presidents, like Ronald Reagan. The Romney campaign officials said it is premature to announce the keynote speaker, however. But Josh Margolin, a former Star-Ledger reporter with sources across New Jersey, reported in the New York Post this week that Republican circles are abuzz with the news and Garden State convention-goers are being told to make sure they arrive in time to hear the keynote.
