Earlier this week, CIANJ President John Galandak, and EVP of Government Affairs, Tony Russo, met with Senate President Stephen Sweeney to discuss legislative priorities and to lay out CIANJ’s Legislative and Regulatory Agenda seen here. In a meeting which lasted more than an hour, the Senate President agreed to work with CIANJ on legislation which will strengthen our economy and help create more private sector jobs. Concerns were also raised on pending legislation such as paid sick leave, banning the ability to conduct criminal background checks until employment offers are made, and the use of ballot questions on labor matters. Although we did not agree on everything such as the minimum wage issue, the meeting was productive and insightful. For a list of CIANJ pro-active legislative measures or to get involved in the legislative process, please contact Tony Russo at 908-415-4597 or [email protected].
