Governor Christie will deliver his Budget Address next Tuesday before the State Legislature. This will mark the official start of the “budget season” in Trenton which will last through the end of June. Many will wait with baited breath to hear the details of a more than $33 billion budget. How does the Governor address the problem with the Transportation Trust Fund? Will there be further pension reforms? Will New Jersey finally see the elimination of the inheritance and estate taxes? Trenton has been replete with talk the last 5 months on these issues and with a potential presidential run and Assembly elections in the mix this year, it is time to hear the details. Earlier this week, CIANJ members met with Assemblyman Gary Schaer, Chair of the Assembly Budget Committee, to share our views on the budget and how to improve New Jersey’s economy. We advocated for the elimination of taxes, such as the inheritance and estate taxes, and more incentives to attract and retain our businesses.
