At Thursday’s Assembly Budget Committee meeting, the Secretary of Higher Education, Rochelle Hendricks, spoke about Higher Education’s proposed budget for FY14. She was joined by Susan Cole, President of Montclair State University and Chair of the New Jersey President’s Council. The morning session was dominated by questions from lawmakers on how NJ will spend the more than one billion dollars voters approved through a ballot question on capital projects at NJ’s colleges and universities. The afternoon session focused on testimony from Rutger’s President, Robert Barchi, on plans for the reorganization of Rutgers and the University of Medicine and Dentistry. The hearing adjourned with closing remarks from the President of Bloomfield College, Richard Levao.
